Some studies show that cow’s milk may worsen breakouts(Pub Med 2018). This could be due to the hormones in dairy. One theory is that cow’s milk contains certain hormones called androgens which may be inflammatory. These androgens may also trigger more oil production. When the oil combines with dead ckin cells, the pore becomes clogged, which leads to more acne formation. The study did not show any association between yogurt and cheese. Giving up cow’s milk may help some people improve their skin. However, it’s important to make sure you are getting enough calcium and Vitamin D from other foods.
